B&R launches new X90 safety relay module for control systems

Mobile machines are becoming increasingly autonomous. They require controllers that are both compact and safe. B&R has extended its X90 control system with an option board that allows floating connections to external safety equipment, making mobile machines even safer.

Mobile controllers with safe, floating outputs have not previously been available on the market. With B&R's new safety relay modules, external safety components such as drives or laser scanners can now be connected to the X90 controller via a floating emergency stop circuit. The safety level can reach PLe/SIL3. This option board is especially suitable for autonomous agricultural and construction machines.

Modularity makes the difference

With its powerful, scalable X90 controller, B&R offers design freedom unique in the market. A wide range of optional option boards opens up completely new possibilities for implementing customer-specific automation solutions. Additionally, the controller has a rugged IP69K enclosure. Ease of maintenance is guaranteed as it does not require a control cabinet or complicated wiring.

B&R servo drives with integrated torque determination reduce costs

B&R has equipped ACOPOS P3 servo drives with safe torque determination. This allows it to use numerous safety features that previously required having an external sensor. This reduces the cost of compliance with the Machinery Directive.

Safe torque determination is based on internal current determination and enables Safely Limited Torque (SLT), Safe Speed Observation (SSO) and Safe Brake Test (SBT). These features are suitable for applications meeting SIL 2 / PL d / Cat. 3.
