Earth Grounding and Loops: Ensure that the module and the connected load share a common ground reference or utilize isolated modules. Ground loops can introduce massive signal noise and offset errors.
Shielding and Cable Routing: Use shielded twisted-pair (STP) cabling for all analog output connections. Route these low-voltage signal wires completely separate from high-current AC power and motor cables to avoid inductive noise coupling.
Load Impedance Matching: Verify that the input impedance of the connected device matches the output drive capability of the NI module. Connecting a low-impedance load to a voltage output channel will cause current saturation and signal clipping.
Power-On State Configuration: Configure the initial power-on states of the output channels within the software. Unconfigured channels may output unpredictable transient voltages during system startup, potentially moving attached actuators unexpectedly.
Cable Length Mitigation: For high-speed waveform generation, keep cable lengths as short as possible to minimize capacitive loading, which can degrade the signal slew rate and cause frequency attenuation.
